ATLANTA (July 23, 2018) | Sen. Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia) recently announced that a contract, worth $189,874, has been awarded to the Telfair-Wheeler Airport to address engineering design for lighting rehabilitation and to install an AWOS III (automated weather observing system).
“I am happy to see this funding be awarded to the Telfair-Wheeler Airport as airports are an integral part of a community’s future development, transportation and economic initiatives,” said Sen. Tillery. “This project is the result of a lot of hard work by elected officials in both Wheeler and Telfair counties and I would like to extend a special thank you to the County Commissioners, Airport Authority members and others who were involved in making this happen. I look forward to the completion of this project and seeing the positive impact it has on aviation in our district.”
The contract is with Wheeler County and the funding is being provided by both federal and state funds.
