Liberty and Wheeler Counties Awarded Airport Contracts
ATLANTA (July 31, 2019) | Sen. Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia) recently announced that Liberty County has been awarded a contract to address an airport layout plan update and environmental assessment at Wright AAF (Fort Stewart) MidCoast Regional Airport as part of the Fiscal Year 2019 Airport Aid Program. The contract award is worth over $252,000 and made up of both federal and state funds.
“These investments made in Liberty County and Ft. Stewart serve our nation as well as our local economy,” said Sen. Tillery. “Without the help of Sen. Ben Watson, Rep. Al Williams and Rep. Ron Stephens, this funding would not have been possible. I’m proud of the Governor, the General Assembly, and our GDOT for making these improvements a priority.”
Sen. Tillery also recently announced that the Wheeler County Board of Commissioners has been awarded a contract to address airfield electrical rehabilitation at Telfair-Wheeler Airport as part of the Fiscal Year 2019 Airport Aid Program. The contract award is worth over $315,000 and made up of both federal and state funds.
“Investments in rural airports help bring job creators to our communities,” said Sen. Tillery. “At no point has this been more important to Telfair and Wheeler Counties than the present. I’m grateful to Governor Kemp, mine and Rep. Jimmy Pruett’s colleagues in the legislature, and the GDOT for realizing this and taking action for our community.”
